Our History
Domeyer Scull Boats are built on the heritage of the original designer, Henry “Heinie” Domeyer. Designing scull boats since 1918, Henry helped bring scull boat design where it is today.
After immigrating to Eureka in the early 1900s Henry began designing and building scull boats. The designs evolved to maximize their performance in the environment Henry sculled in. Some of his hunting partners were doing the same. Eventually these designs became known as “humbolt-style” scull boats which are distinguished by a low profile and rounded bottoms.
Henry’s design evolved into the late 1950’s and his latest design is what you seen today. His son Leland “Pete” Domeyer became an accomplished sculler in these designs as did Pete’s son Mike L. Domeyer.Several boats were built for the family and friends then handed down as the family remained active in sculling.
As a fourth-generation sculler, Henry’s great grandson, Michael C. Domeyer now brings Domeyer Scull Boats into the future with their latest model, the Heinie.
